MICHAEL P. MULLANEY
Of Counsel

As grandfather of nine, Mike is very familiar with and passionate about the need to make long-term planning for future generations. In his professional practice, Mike has been helping individuals, families and business owners plan their estates for over 30 years. Mike believes that clients of any age can benefit from proper planning, especially with the benefits in tax savings and wealth preservation. His greatest pleasure is helping clients realize those advantages, meet their objectives and enhance their own and their family’s future.

Mike is a native of Schenectady and after receiving his degree in accounting from Georgetown University, he returned to the area to attend Albany Law School. He and his wife and his four children are all graduates of the Niskayuna Schools. While growing his law practice, he and his wife raised identical twin daughters and two sons. Mike coached his daughters’ softball teams and his sons’ baseball and basketball teams. In his “spare time” he pursued his passion for golf with his sons.

In addition to assisting clients with tax and intergenerational planning, Mike helps many families following the passing of a loved one or close friend through the probate and administration of wills and trusts. He works with an experienced and talented team at Lavelle & Finn guiding executors and trustees through complex estates in a smooth and tax efficient manner and seeing that a person’s wishes and objectives are carried out without delay for the family.

Mike believes in giving back to his community. He is a member of the Board of the Niskayuna Community Foundation, an organization he helped start in 2000. NCF supports projects to improve the quality of life in Niskayuna for current and future generations. He has also served on boards for youth sports organizations and other boards, whose focus is to improve the quality of life for families and children.

When Mike is not in the office or traveling to spend time with family, you will likely find him either on the golf course where he still manages to keep a single digit handicap or following his favorite Georgetown Hoya basketball team.
